On WhatsApp, the image is what makes a customer stop scrolling. A Status with a dark photo and a wall of text gets skipped in half a second. A clean graphic with the product front and center and one sharp line of copy gets replies like "How much?" or "Do you have it in stock?" The good news is you don't need to be a designer to make graphics that sell. You just need a few simple principles for visuals and words.
Why your graphics matter
A Farmasi seller competes for attention with dozens of other contacts, groups, and Status updates. A well-made graphic:
- stands out among all those updates;
- looks professional and builds trust;
- gets across the benefit, price, and call to action in seconds;
- is easy for customers to share with friends.
Formats that work on WhatsApp
Status (vertical)
Status fills the whole phone screen. Use a vertical format with a 9:16 ratio. Leave some empty space at the top and bottom, since the contact name and reply bar cover those areas.
Chats and broadcast lists (square)
For one-on-one chats or broadcast lists, a square (1:1) or slightly vertical (4:5) format looks good in the preview.
Keep a template for each format
Designing from scratch every time is exhausting. Create one template for Status and one for chats, then just swap the product, text, and price.
Photos: the foundation of a good graphic
Natural light
Shoot near a window during the day. Avoid yellow indoor lighting and flash, which causes glare on the packaging.
A clean background
A sheet of white paper, a light-colored cloth, or a plain countertop does the job. The product should be the star.
Simple composition
- One product per graphic is ideal. For sets, give each item some breathing room.
- Show the packaging straight on, with the name readable.
- Try adding props that hint at how it's used: a towel, a flower, a mirror. Don't overdo it.
Texture and use
A drop of serum on a hand, a lipstick swatch on a wrist, or a close-up of a cream's texture helps customers picture using it.
Layout: less is more
Clear hierarchy
Every graphic should answer three questions fast:
- What is it? (product name or main benefit)
- Why would I want it? (one benefit in a few words)
- What do I do now? (call to action)
Minimal text
Use three text blocks at most: a headline, a supporting line, and the call to action. Everything else goes in the caption or the message.
Readable fonts
Stick to two fonts at most. Avoid very thin or ornate lettering, which becomes unreadable on a small screen.
Consistent colors
Pick a palette of two or three colors and stick with it. Over time, customers will recognize your graphics before they even read them.
Contrast
Light text on a dark background, or the other way around. Text over a photo only works with a band or shadow behind it.
Copywriting: the words that convince
The image grabs attention, but the copy is what gets the reply.
Talk benefits, not just features
"Lightweight lotion" is a feature. "Soft skin all day, with no sticky feeling" is a benefit. Lead with the benefit and use the feature as support.
Be specific
"Amazing product" says nothing. "A floral perfume for everyday wear" helps the customer decide whether it's for her.
Create real urgency (and only real urgency)
"Last 3 in stock" or "Order by Friday for delivery next week" work when they're true. Made-up urgency destroys trust.
End with a call to action
Tell the customer exactly what to do:
- "Reply to this Status to reserve yours"
- "Message me to see the shades"
- "Order yours by Thursday"
Sample copy for graphics and captions
For a new arrival:
Just in! Full-coverage foundation with a natural finish, in shades for every skin tone. Reply here and I'll help you find your match.
For an in-stock product:
Ready to ship: daily face serum for a more even, radiant-looking complexion. Only a few left, reply to this Status to reserve one.
For a gift set:
Mother's Day gift, ready to go: a hydration set with body cream and body wash, wrapped with a bow. Order by the 5th.
Important things to keep in mind
- Keep prices current. If a price changes, update or remove the graphic. Mismatched prices erode trust.
- Don't use brand names and logos as if they were yours. Make it clear you're an independent seller, and avoid reproducing official materials in a way that looks like company communication.
- Use images you have the right to use. Your own photos are best. Images from the internet may be copyrighted.
- Share reviews only with permission. Before posting a customer's comment, ask if she's okay with it, and hide her name if she prefers.
- No exaggerated claims. Avoid promising results like "erases wrinkles" or "cures acne." Describe honestly what the product offers.
A posting routine that won't burn you out
- Monday: new arrival or launch.
- Wednesday: usage tip or product pairing.
- Friday: in-stock products ready for the weekend.
- Daily: one or two Status updates with behind-the-scenes moments or featured products.
Batch-create several graphics during a quiet part of your week, then post them gradually.
